Lee Mortensen grew up in the West Palm Beach area and lived near Seattle for a while. She came to the Keys permanently in 1998 with her husband and lives in a house they designed and built themselves on Ramrod Key where they currently live in the winter. They summer in Pemberton, B.C. near Whistler/Blackcomb Resort.

They settled in the Keys because of the fishing and diving.

Lee has been a craft-aholic since childhood and has wanted to learn stained glass for many years. While in the Seattle area she had an opportunity to do so and fell in love with the medium. Her other hobbies immediately went to the back burner and she has become totally focused on glass art.

Upon moving to the Keys she decided to make a go of her art. She found the Artists in Paradise Gallery on Big Pine at a time when they were losing their only stained glass artist. The timing was right and as soon as she hung some pieces in the gallery she received a commission job for two pieces & she's been busy ever since.

"I love the way different types of glass react with each other. Sometimes glass combinations alone inspire a design." Being a bit of a perfectionist... some of her bright colorful sealife and nautical pieces can take 3 to 4 months to complete to her satisfaction.

When not creating stained glass Lee is employed as an Architectural CAD Drafter/ Designer. She enjoys the combination of artistic and technical creations.

Lee has work displayed at Artists in Paradise Gallery in Big Pine Key.

Her head is swimming with so many ideas she doesn't know what project to do next. You can reach her by email at LeeMortensen56@gmail.com.
